Children were long believed not to grieve, or perhaps at least not deeply, when a loved one died. However, illness and death are a part of life for adults and children alike. Children grieve differently. Hospice of St. Francis’s North Star Program helps children, teens and families heal.
The North Star Program enables children who are grieving a loved one’s death to share with and support each other. Through play and talking with each other, the children have the power to help themselves and each other heal.
The non-denominational, free program meets regularly at the Hospice of St. Francis office, 1250-B Grumman Place, Titusville. Children ages 3 – 18 are invited to attend along with their adult family members. An adult support group meets at the same time as the children’s group.
